Miles Hilton-Barber is Motivational Development Manager for the RNIB
He has run the Marathon des Sables, and the 250km Ultra in the heat of the Sahara. He has climbed to 17,500’ and conquered both Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc, and he has circumnavigated the world using 80 forms of transport. This would be impressive for anyone; for a blind person it is extraordinary.
Miles has been blind for over twenty years, relying on his friend and sighted guide to help him achieve his goals - including a world record for manhauling a sledge across Antarctica. (Frostbite prevented him from becoming the first blind person to reach the South Pole, but he hopes to return.)
Miles explains it’s not your circumstances that matter, but your response to them. As if he still needs to prove the point, he has just flown to Sydney - using speech output from his control panels.
