Amanda Stevens
Association of Personal Injury Lawyers
Amanda is vice president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), and partner and head of the personal injury group at Charles Russell solicitors. She was elected to APIL’s National Executive in 2003, and maintains a particular interest in health and safety matters as well as a keen interest in rehabilitation. Amanda represents APIL on the International Underwriting Association’s ‘rehab’ working party.
Anthony Gould
Group Editor in Chief, Incisive Media Insurance Division
Anthony is group editor in chief of Incisive Media’s Insurance Division, with responsibility for Post Magazine, Insurance Age, Professional Broking, Cover and Reinsurance Magazine, including their online and offline brand extensions
Ashton West
CEO, MIB
Ashton West joined the MIB as CEO in April 2003. His former employment roles include claims director of Iron Trades Insurance and Rubicon Limited, claims consultant for Bavarian Re UK and chairman of ReIntra Limited. In addition to claims management, Ashton has been involved with the negotiation and operation of agreements to assist in the resolution of large scale industrial disease claims issues. He participated in the Working Party for the development of the Personal Injury Pre-Action Protocols and the development of the Code of Best Practice on Rehabilitation. Ashton is a past chairman of the Motor and Liability Claims Panel of the Association of British Insurers, and fomerly a member of the Civil Justice Council and the ABI Liability Insurance Committee.
Gary Booton
Director of Health, Safety and Environment - EEF – the manufacturers’ organisation
Gary is Director of HS&E for EEF the manufacturers’ organisation. EEF is a leader in representing manufacturing industry and operates a large national HSE consultancy. Gary has worked in health and safety for 20 years. Before this he worked in the Major Hazards Division of the Health & Safety Executive
Lynn Rouse
Deputy Editor of Post Magazine
Lynn has been deputy editor of Post Magazine since January 2005, before which she was features editor and a member of the reporting team. Over the last five years, she has followed the rehab debate closely under the magazine's Rehabilitation First campaign. This has necessitated the writing and commissioning of articles on a wide range of related topics from the promotion of early intervention in whiplash claims, to employer-led vocational rehabilitation programmes and the need for professional qualifications and regulation of this burgeoning industry
Mark Baylis
Consultant
A self-employed consultant, Mark manages the IUA-ABI Rehabilitation Working Party, which he helped to found in 1998 and is also a founder of the UK rehabilitation council. He edited the three UK bodily injury awards studies. He has organised or participated in a wide range of conferences and seminars promoting rehabilitation and is regularly consulted by government and other bodies on this subject. He is currently running a campaign on behalf of AIRMIC (the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers) to promote workplace rehabilitation
Matthew Young
Policy Adviser on Liability and Occupational Health - ABI
Matthew has been Policy Adviser on Liability and Occupational Health since joining the ABI in February 2007. This includes working with insurers to promote rehabilitation and make it easier to provide, and he is on the Steering Group of the UK Rehabilitation Council. He represents the UK insurance industry on the Liability Committee of the European insurance association, the CEA. He has previously worked in the UK Parliament, in local government, worked for a charity for socially excluded young people in London, and been a political consultant at Westminster.
Helen Harwood
Harwoods Consultancy and Rehabwindow
Helen is representing RehabReview, Rehabwindow and Rehabjobs where she was the previous editor. Rehabwindow is a UK online resource established for over four years and has become renowned among target markets. Helen is now concentrating on her own consultancy in rehabilitation and disability, and provides bespoke training for service providers and employers. She has previously worked in the voluntary sector, focusing on sustaining employment for people recovering from mental ill health.
